Volunteer Assumption of Risk & Release

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. BY JOINING A CAMPAIGN YOU ACKNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT AND AGREE TO IT.

1. Nature of the activity
Volunteering may include driving personal vehicles, walking residential neighborhoods (including after dark), lifting and placing yard signs, interacting with households and pets, using maps/phones while outdoors, and related tasks. These activities involve inherent risks.

2. Assumption of risk
I voluntarily choose to participate. I understand and accept the risks, including but not limited to: motor vehicle accidents; slips, trips, and falls; weather; insect/animal encounters; confrontation or misunderstanding with residents; theft or damage to property; injury to myself or others; and other unforeseen risks. I am responsible for my own safety, for following traffic and local laws, and for deciding whether conditions are safe enough to continue.

3. No employment
I am an unpaid volunteer. I am not an employee, contractor, or agent of the platform operator. I am not entitled to wages, benefits, workers’ compensation from the platform, or unemployment benefits related to this volunteer activity. Any relationship with a school, booster club, or Organizer is separate from the platform.

4. Release
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS (A) THE PLATFORM OPERATOR AND ITS OWNERS AND SUPPLIERS, AND (B) THE ORGANIZATION AND ORGANIZERS RUNNING THE CAMPAIGN I JOIN, AND THEIR OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND AGENTS, FROM CLAIMS AND DAMAGES ARISING FROM MY PARTICIPATION—INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED ON ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE—EXCEPT CLAIMS ARISING FROM GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL MISCONDUCT, OR THAT CANNOT BE WAIVED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

5. Indemnity
I will indemnify the released parties against claims arising from my own negligence, illegal acts, or failure to follow Organizer instructions or law, to the extent permitted by law.

6. Medical
I certify I am fit to participate. I authorize emergency medical care if I am unable to consent, at my own expense. I will not participate while impaired.

7. Minors
If I am under 18, a parent/guardian must accept this waiver on my behalf before I participate. Organizers should not assign field driving tasks to minors contrary to law or school policy.

8. Insurance
I understand the platform does not provide auto, health, or liability insurance for my volunteering. I am responsible for my own insurance.

9. Not legal advice
This document is a protective condition of using the Service. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. Organizers should consult counsel for school/district or nonprofit-specific requirements.

10. Electronic acceptance
Checking “I agree,” joining via QR/invite, or continuing to use the volunteer app after being shown this waiver constitutes my electronic signature and agreement to this document (version specified at acceptance).
